Why Mentoring Works

A calm, professional path when someone you love says no

An intervention is not an ambush. It is a loving, structured invitation to accept help, guided by a professional. We prepare the family, lead the day, and make sure help is ready the moment they say yes.

A plan instead of a crisis

Professional guidance that replaces panic and ultimatums with a structured, loving approach.

A united family

Preparation that gets everyone aligned, so the message is consistent and hard to refuse.

A path ready for yes

Placement and next steps arranged in advance, so help begins the moment they agree.

Is This Familiar

When to consider an intervention

  • A loved one is in denial and refusing help
  • Every conversation ends in conflict or shutdown
  • The situation is escalating and time feels short
  • Enabling has quietly replaced boundaries
  • The family is exhausted and out of ideas
  • You need a professional, not another argument
  • You want a plan, not just a confrontation
  • You want help ready the moment they agree

When someone you love keeps saying no, a structured, professional intervention can change everything. We guide families through it with skill and compassion.

Our Support

What our intervention support includes

Family preparation icon

Family Preparation

Careful preparation for the family before anyone sits down with a loved one. We help you understand the addiction, align on a message, and rehearse what to say, so the conversation is calm, unified, and loving rather than an ambush that backfires.

Professional guidance icon

Professional Guidance

An experienced professional leading the process from the first call through follow-through. Interventions are emotional and high-stakes, so having a steady, trained guide keeps the day focused, safe, and productive when feelings run high.

Recovery Coaching ›

Placement icon

Placement Ready

Treatment arranged and ready before the conversation ever happens. The window after someone says yes is short, so we line up the bed, the logistics, and the plan in advance, letting recovery begin immediately instead of stalling in a critical moment.

Levels of Care ›

The day itself icon

The Day Itself

Steady, professional facilitation of the intervention itself. We guide the conversation, hold the structure, and keep the tone loving and firm, so the day stays on track and gives your loved one the clearest possible path to yes.

Aftercare Support ›

After the yes icon

After the Yes

Support does not end when they agree; that is where recovery begins. We help manage the immediate transition into care and stay involved through the fragile early days, so a yes becomes a genuine start rather than a moment that passes.

Sober Companion ›

Boundaries icon

Boundaries & Enabling

Guidance drawing the boundaries that protect the whole family, during the intervention and long after. We help you replace enabling with support that actually helps, so love stops fueling the addiction and starts fueling recovery.

A LOVING, STRUCTURED PATH

Waiting for rock bottom is not a plan

Families often wait, hoping a loved one will choose help on their own, while the situation quietly grows more dangerous. A professionally guided intervention replaces that waiting with a calm, structured, loving conversation, backed by treatment that is ready to begin, so the path to yes is as clear and immediate as possible.

How It Works

How support begins

01

A private conversation

Confidential and without pressure. We listen first and help you name what is really happening.

02

A support plan

Built around your patterns, your triggers, and the shape of your week.

03

Real-world support

Consistent presence between appointments and after treatment, where recovery is actually tested.

04

Coordinated care

We work alongside your clinical team when one exists, or help you build one through Heights Behavioral Health.

When someone you love keeps saying no

A private, judgment-free conversation is the first step. We will help you find footing, whatever the last few months have looked like.

Where Mentoring Fits

Non-clinical support that works with your care

Heights Mentoring is a private, non-clinical recovery support practice. We do not diagnose or provide therapy, psychiatry, or medical care. When those are the right next step, we coordinate with licensed providers and our sister clinical practice, Heights Behavioral Health, so nothing falls through the cracks.

WHAT AN INTERVENTION ACTUALLY INVOLVES

The Work That Happens Before the Room

The conversation itself is the smallest part. What decides the outcome is everything arranged before anyone sits down.

  • The family
  • The letters
  • The placement
HEIGHTS MENTORINGOne prepared conversation
  • Transport
  • Boundaries
  • The day after
Interventions rarely fail because a family cared too little. They fail because the bed was not confirmed before anyone spoke.

A Confirmed Destination

A specific placement, held, with admission time and insurance verified before the meeting happens. An intervention without somewhere to go is a conversation that ends in the driveway.

A Rehearsed Room

Three to six people, letters written and read aloud in advance, edited for concern rather than accusation. Tone is what decides whether someone stays in the chair.

Boundaries You Can Actually Hold

Each person states what changes if the answer is no, and only states what they will genuinely carry out. An unenforced boundary teaches that none of it was real.

Intervention support often runs alongside recovery coaching and family support.

Questions

Intervention questions, answered

A professional intervention is a planned, rehearsed conversation led by a trained interventionist, with treatment already arranged before anyone sits down. The work happens in the days beforehand: preparing the family, agreeing what each person will say, setting genuine boundaries, and securing a bed or an outpatient slot so that a yes can be acted on immediately. The meeting itself is the short part.

No, and confrontational models are largely outdated. Modern approaches, including invitational and CRAFT-informed methods, focus on reducing shame and increasing the chance of a yes rather than cornering someone. The aim is not to win an argument. It is to make treatment the easiest available option in that moment.

Plenty of interventions end without an immediate yes, and they still change things, because the family has finally agreed a single position and stopped accidentally funding the problem. Boundaries that everyone actually holds change behavior over the following weeks. We stay with families through that period, and many people accept help within days of an intervention rather than on the day.

Pricing depends on preparation time, travel, and whether transport to treatment is included. A proper engagement covers family preparation, the meeting itself, same-day transport if there is a yes, and coordination with the receiving program. We quote in writing before starting. Call (713) 337-5063.

Often within a few days, and faster when there is an urgent safety concern. Rushing the preparation is the most common reason interventions fail, so we will tell you honestly if a timeline is too tight to do well.

Then that is the first stop, and it is a medical decision rather than ours. Alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal in particular can be dangerous, so assessment comes first and the intervention plan routes to detox rather than around it. Our levels of care guide explains what follows.

That is where most families are left alone and where the risk quietly returns. We stay involved through the transition with aftercare support and, where useful, a sober companion for the discharge window.
