Heights Mentoring FAQs
ABOUT RECOVERY MENTORING
What is recovery mentoring?
Recovery mentoring is professional, clinician-led support that helps people put recovery into practice in everyday life, through routines, accountability, and follow-through between clinical sessions.
Is mentoring the same as therapy?
No. Mentoring is non-clinical, real-world support that complements therapy and psychiatry. It does not diagnose or treat, and with your consent we coordinate with your clinical providers.
How is a recovery mentor different from a sponsor?
A sponsor is a peer within a 12-step program. A recovery mentor is a trained, clinician-led professional, often used alongside, not instead of, a recovery community.
COACHING, COMPANIONS & YOUNG ADULTS
What does a sober coach do?
A sober coach provides hands-on support to help you stay sober in real life, including relapse-prevention planning, accountability, and support during high-risk moments.
What is a sober or recovery companion?
A recovery companion offers close, discreet, one-on-one support during high-risk periods such as post-treatment transitions, travel, and major life events.
Do you work with young adults?
Yes. Our young adult mentoring helps people who feel stuck, often after treatment or in early recovery, build structure and move toward work, school, and independence.
INTERVENTIONS & FAMILIES
Can you help if my loved one will not get help?
Often, yes. We help families plan and hold a calm, supportive conversation and arrange the next step. The approach is non-coercive and focused on keeping the door open.
Do you support families directly?
Yes. Family coaching helps the people around someone in recovery support without enabling, set boundaries that hold, and communicate in a way that helps.
What if there is an emergency?
If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. For a mental health or suicide crisis, call or text 988 any time.
LOGISTICS & COST
Where do you provide services?
In person across Houston and The Heights, virtually, or in your real-world environment, wherever support is most useful.
Do you take insurance?
Heights Mentoring is a private, concierge, private-pay service. Pricing depends on the scope and frequency of support, and we walk through it transparently during your consultation, before you commit to anything.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. We hold professional standards for privacy and never use anything you share for marketing.
How do we get started?
Call (713) 337-5063 or send a message. A licensed clinician listens, gives an honest read on fit, and outlines next steps in plain terms.
